Maryland’s Medical Cannabis Laws and Regulations are governed by the Natalie M. LaPrade Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). These laws allow registered patients and caregivers to legally obtain, possess, and use medical cannabis. As a patient in Maryland, you must have a qualifying medical condition as recognized by the MMCC. These conditions include but are not limited to chronic or severe pain, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other conditions resistant to conventional medicine.

The state law permits patients to possess up to a 30-day supply of medical cannabis, which is currently defined as 120 grams of cannabis flower or 36 grams of THC from cannabis-infused products. It’s important to note that the use of medical cannabis is restricted to private property and is prohibited in public spaces, on school grounds, and in motor vehicles.

Additionally, Maryland law requires all medical cannabis to be grown by state-licensed growers and distributed through state-licensed dispensaries. Patients must obtain their cannabis products from these licensed dispensaries.

The process of obtaining a medical marijuana card in Maryland involves registering with the MCA (Maryland Cannabis Administration), obtaining a written certification from a registered provider, and purchasing medical cannabis from a licensed dispensary.
